I think I can...

I am going to go.

I went to REI and Target tonight for some necessities for tomorrow. BOTH were sold out of handwarmers. REI even had a special sign explaining that they were out due to the inauguration. Plus there was a bunch of people in the store buying gear.

*Note to self: Always keep a stock of handwarmers. If you ever become a buyer for a store think ahead about such things.

I have checked and recheck routes to get to and from. I have bought snacks. I have layed out my clothes. Here is what I have planned:

Pair of tights
Two pairs of socks
Thermals
Leggings
Jeans
Thermal top
Fleece top
Sweater
Fleece Jacket
Winter Jacket
Three pairs of gloves

Plus I have five packs of hand warmers.

Writing this out now seems a little excessive. Better safe than sorry.

I think that the hardest part will be leaving the city. I have cancelled my usual Tuesday night plans and have made contingency plans A - D--D being walking ten miles home.

Stay tuned!

Should I stay or should I go?

So this week in DC the streets have been abuzz with pre inaguration excitement For the past two weeks my bus route has changed so as not to go by the hotel where the Obamas are staying.

It really is pretty exciting.

I can't decide if I want to go down to the Inauguration on Tuesday. The list maker in me will now outline the pros and cons.

Pros:

*Once in a lifetime (I always regretted living in Utah but not really doing anything Olympicish during the 2002 Winter Olympics);
*The excitement (nothing like being there live)
*Being able to say "I was there." (especially since it is so historic)

Cons:
*Cold (I don't do with the cold, at all. I literally loose feeling in my hands and toes)
*Crowds (This one isn't too bad but I would literally have to devote my day to the event).

We'll see.

Take Two

Well, I bought a laptop for Christmas and now have access to computer, internet, etc. at home. We'll see how this goes. At least I can say I have had a blog since 2007!

I think that I will mostly use this to:

1. Review books, recipes, movies, tv shows
2. Record funny anecdotes from my days
3. Keep a very basic redord of what is going on in my life

Recognizing that this is a pulbic blogs, this blog will not be:

1. An unfiltered sharing of my life
2. A place to unabashadley vent
3. Funny

(Friends and journals partake in the above).
